My Thoughts on Deep Development 1×3
"Deep Development 1×3" is definitely a ride. Having finished it, I can say it's a novel that doesn't pull any punches. It dives headfirst into its mature themes, and while it captivated me, it's certainly not for the faint of heart.
First Impressions
Initially, I found the beginning a little slow. It took a while to really grab my attention, but once the plot started thickening, I was hooked. The setup, with the MC seducing Moyi for investment, immediately establishes the cunning nature of our protagonist.
What Works Well
The author excels at creating a world populated by morally grey characters. Everyone seems to have a hidden agenda, which makes the power dynamics incredibly interesting. I particularly enjoyed the MC's resourcefulness and determination. He faces some truly awful situations, and I found myself constantly rooting for him to come out on top. The romantic elements, while twisted, were compelling, and the ending, while perhaps a bit anticlimactic for some, provided a satisfying resolution. The author clearly knows how to write within the adult genre, and the tags are definitely accurate in representing the story's content.
Areas of Concern
The heavy themes, including instances of sexual assault, might be a trigger for some readers. While the explicit content is somewhat downplayed within the overall narrative, its presence is undeniable. Also, the sheer "scumminess" of some characters, particularly Mo Xijue, can be a bit overwhelming at times.
