"Dead Man Switch" is a wild ride. I dove into this novel expecting a zombie apocalypse with a side of romance, and I got that, but with a hefty dose of time-looping angst thrown in for good measure. It's definitely a story that sticks with you, even after you've turned the final page.

First Impressions

The premise immediately grabbed me: an average guy suddenly thrust into a zombie outbreak, only to find that a mysterious stranger seems to know way more than he should, even threatening him if he tries to die. The initial mystery of the ML's actions and the unfolding apocalypse created a compelling hook that kept me invested.

The emotional core of the story is definitely its strength. I was particularly drawn to the ML's perspective and his internal struggles with the endless loops, the trauma of watching the MC die repeatedly, and his descent into a kind of detached madness. The extras, especially the one where they are fighting and the MC is in a bunny suit, are really cute.

While I enjoyed the overall story, the execution wasn't flawless. There were some plot points that I felt were underdeveloped, particularly the specifics of how the looping mechanism worked. The pacing felt uneven at times, with some sections focusing too heavily on romantic scenes when I was craving more plot development. It would have been nice to see more details about the virus itself.
