Going into this, I knew the tags – adult, mature, psychological, and yaoi – meant I was in for something intense, but I wasn't quite prepared for the emotional rollercoaster. This story dives deep into the complexities of family, the lasting scars of abuse, and the twisted ways love can manifest in damaged individuals.
First Impressions
Right off the bat, the story establishes a heavy atmosphere. The family dynamics are dysfunctional, to say the least, and it's clear early on that the MC is bearing the brunt of it. The narrative unfolds gradually, revealing the layers of trauma that have shaped each of the brothers. It's a slow burn, and the author does a good job of building suspense and intrigue.
What Works Well
I found the exploration of how parental abuse affects children to be particularly compelling. The story doesn't shy away from the darkness, and it portrays the brothers as victims in their own right, even as they perpetuate harmful behaviors. The author clearly put a lot of thought into the characters' motivations, making their obsessions and actions, however disturbing, somewhat understandable within the context of their upbringing. The gradual reveal of the story kept me hooked. I appreciate that it wasn't just a smut story and had a decent plot.

Honestly, the bleakness of the story can be overwhelming. While I appreciate the author's willingness to tackle difficult themes, there were times when I felt the MC was suffering unnecessarily. Also, the introduction of the stranger felt a bit random and underdeveloped, leaving me wondering about their purpose in the grand scheme of things.
