With tags like 'abusive characters' and 'betrayal,' I knew I was stepping into potentially problematic territory, and unfortunately, many of my concerns were validated.

Initially, the premise intrigued me. I'm always drawn to stories with complex relationships and flawed characters. However, the execution left me feeling uneasy. The initial chapters felt rushed, with jarring transitions and a lack of depth in character development. I struggled to connect with the female lead, as her reactions often felt inconsistent and the plot was all over the place.
What Works Well
Honestly, finding positives in this novel proved challenging. I will say that the sheer audacity of the plot kept me somewhat engaged, at least initially. There were moments where I could see the potential for a compelling story, buried beneath layers of questionable choices. The translator deserves credit for their efforts in bringing this story to an English-speaking audience.

The plot holes and illogical scene transitions further detract from the overall experience. It's hard to become invested in a story when the narrative feels so disjointed.

I think I'll be searching for a romance with a bit less dog blood and a lot more genuine affection.
