"Amnesia Guide Of A Mermaid" promised a lighthearted fantasy romp, and for the most part, it delivered. It's a story that's easy to get sucked into, with a charming dynamic between the main characters.
First Impressions
The beginning of this novel is definitely its strongest point. I immediately fell for the premise: a mermaid with amnesia and a wealthy, seemingly indifferent CEO. The humor is on point, and the setup is genuinely intriguing. I appreciated how the author switched between the MC and ML's perspectives, giving me insight into their individual thoughts and motivations.
What Works Well
The relationship between the MC and ML is a definite highlight. Their communication is surprisingly good, which is a refreshing change of pace in this genre. I also enjoyed the author's take on the mermaid mythology. The idea of mermaids casually forgetting things unless a relationship is "official" is a hilarious and unique concept. Plus, the addition of Mpreg added an extra layer of cuteness to the story.
