The ML initially sees the MC as a kid, given their age gap (8 years), which adds a layer of realism to the romance. The humor is also on point, and the story does a good job of portraying the complexities of relationships in a world gone mad. I also found myself surprisingly invested in the side characters. The author doesn't shy away from killing off characters, even those you grow to like, which adds to the sense of danger and unpredictability.
