"After Getting Addicted to F**king with a Rival" is a completed original story that I decided to check out, and I have some thoughts! Overall, it was a fun ride, but not without its bumps.
First Impressions
The premise grabbed me right away: academic rivals who express their feelings through constant bickering and, eventually, more physical means. The story follows them from high school to married life, charting their journey from adversaries to… well, you can guess. It’s a blend of school life fluff, romance, and, of course, the adult content the tags promise.
What Works Well
The initial dynamic between the leads is definitely the strongest point. The banter is hilarious, and watching their relationship evolve from pure rivalry to something more intimate is genuinely entertaining. I especially enjoyed the flashbacks showing how they met and how their… unique relationship came to be. The story is relatively short and sweet, making it an easy binge-read when you're in the mood for something lighthearted with plenty of spice. The authors nailed the transition from enemies to lovers, with the added fun of a friends with benefits phase.
Areas of Concern
While the first part of the story was cute and engaging, I feel it lost some steam later on. The introduction of a forced long-distance relationship felt unnecessary and detracted from the overall enjoyment. The fact that the couple barely communicated for six months, despite being engaged and living in different countries, seemed a bit contrived and out of character. This disconnect made the ending feel less satisfying than it could have been.
