Description

My Thoughts on Advance Bravely
"Advance Bravely" is a wild ride, to say the least. With its blend of comedy, romance, and, let's be honest, a healthy dose of smut, it's a novel that elicits strong reactions. I went into it knowing it was a popular yaoi story, but I wasn't quite prepared for the rollercoaster of emotions it would take me on.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise: a girl enlists her brother to help win over a guy, only for the brother to fall for him instead. It sounded like a recipe for hilarious misunderstandings and heartwarming romance. The beginning certainly delivered on the comedy, with the MC's tsundere antics and excuses providing plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.
What Works Well
What kept me hooked was the dynamic between the main couple. The ML's unwavering devotion and persistence were definitely endearing, even if his initial "courting" methods bordered on stalking. There were several moments where their connection felt genuine, and the spice level was definitely a plus for those who enjoy that aspect of the genre. I also appreciated the action-packed storyline, which added another layer of excitement to the romance.
Areas of Concern
However, I did find myself struggling with certain aspects of the novel. The characters, particularly the MC, could be frustrating at times. His stubbornness and occasional insensitivity made it difficult to fully connect with him. I also felt that some of the side characters and their relationships were underdeveloped and didn't contribute much to the overall story. The lack of communication between the main couple also led to unnecessary angst and drama.
