My Thoughts on Yess & Yes
"Yess & Yes" is a wild ride, a modern fantasy take on "A Christmas Carol" with a healthy dose of adult themes. It's a story that grabbed my attention from the get-go with its morally gray protagonist and intriguing premise. While it might not be for everyone, it definitely left a lasting impression on me.
First Impressions
I was immediately drawn to the unique dynamic between Lee Juwon, our money-obsessed MC, and Kang Inheon, the seemingly devoted ML. Juwon is, to put it mildly, a piece of work. He's arrogant, stingy, and generally unpleasant. But there's a depth there that hints at past traumas, and I was eager to see how the story would peel back those layers. Inheon, on the other hand, seems almost too good to be true, and I was curious to uncover the complexities beneath his unwavering devotion.
What Works Well
The character development is where this novel truly shines. Juwon's journey of self-discovery and redemption is compelling, and I found myself surprisingly invested in his growth. The author does a fantastic job of revealing his past and explaining the roots of his behavior. It's not just a simple "bad guy turns good" story; it's a nuanced exploration of trauma, regret, and the possibility of change. I also appreciated the complexity of Inheon's character. His devotion to Juwon isn't blind; it's tinged with frustration, disappointment, and a deep-seated fear that Juwon will revert to his old ways. The dynamic between them is far from simple, and that's what makes it so captivating. The plot, though sometimes a bit convoluted with its time-travel elements, is well-crafted, with hints and foreshadowing that pay off in satisfying ways. The angst is definitely present, but it's balanced by moments of humor and, eventually, some very steamy romance.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the story overall, there were a few aspects that gave me pause. The pacing can be uneven at times, with lengthy flashbacks that occasionally bog down the narrative. Also, the initial chapters are quite dense, and it can be challenging to fully grasp the world-building and character dynamics.

Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "Yess & Yes" is a worthwhile read for those who enjoy character-driven stories with complex relationships. I found the MC's journey of redemption to be genuinely moving, and the dynamic between him and the ML is both intriguing and emotionally resonant. If you're looking for a BL novel that goes beyond the typical tropes and delves into deeper themes of trauma, self-discovery, and the power of love, I recommend giving "Yess & Yes" a try.
