"Witch, Open Your Eyes" is a wild ride. I went in expecting one thing and got something completely different, and honestly, I wasn't disappointed. This novel blends action, mystery, and psychological elements into a suspenseful yaoi story that kept me guessing until the very end.

First Impressions

The premise is intriguing: a group of people trapped on an island forced to play a real-life version of Werewolf. Our protagonist, Fang Daichuan, is thrown into this deadly game, and as the title suggests, he gets the role of the witch. Initially, I was a bit thrown off by the MC's "dense" nature, but I grew to appreciate his straightforwardness amidst the manipulative characters.

What Works Well

The thriller aspect of this novel is definitely its strongest point. The plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat, and the author did a great job of creating a haunting atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the complex relationships between the characters and how their hidden agendas drove the story forward. The male lead, Li Sinian, is a compelling character, and I was invested in his relationship with Fang Daichuan, even if it developed quickly. The pacing is excellent, especially considering the story takes place over just seven days. I found the writing descriptive and the horror elements well-executed.

While I enjoyed the novel overall, there were a few things that bothered me. The MC's naivete can be frustrating at times, and I can understand why some readers might find him irritating.
