Going in, I had high hopes for a quick but satisfying read.
What Works Well
The core relationship between Yan Jiao and Bai Lin is definitely the highlight. The shift from initial animosity to genuine affection is charming, and I found myself rooting for them despite the circumstances. The story also does a decent job of establishing the world and the stakes, providing enough context for the revenge plot to feel meaningful. The female lead's strength and the male lead's eventual devotion create a power couple dynamic that I thoroughly enjoyed.
