Description
“Brother, please kill me.” Abel, the hero who desired to die at the pinnacle of his success. “Why are you saying such crazy things?” Cain, the warrior who fulfilled his wish. It’s definitely a life I lived once, but there were many things I didn’t know, so I chose to live it again.

My Thoughts on The Villain Carries the Holy Sword
Okay, so I dove into "The Villain Carries the Holy Sword" with a healthy dose of curiosity, given its mix of action, fantasy, and a dash of tragedy. The premise of a regression story with an anti-hero protagonist definitely piqued my interest. After reading a fair bit, here are my thoughts.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the conspiracy aspects hinted at early on. The idea of a fallen noble, a manipulated hero, and a quest to rewind time to prevent a tragic future is definitely a hook. The world-building, centered around the four seasons and witches, also felt unique and intriguing.
What Works Well
For me, the strength of this novel lies in its characters. I found myself invested in their interactions and motivations, even when their decisions seemed questionable. The author does a decent job of making you understand why they're doing what they're doing, even if it's not the smartest move. There is an entertaining quality to the story that kept me coming back for more. It's not a perfectly polished story, but I appreciate the effort to entertain the reader.
Areas of Concern
There are a few things that gave me pause. The pacing felt a little uneven at times. I felt that the MC received a power boost a little too quickly after regressing. It felt a bit sudden, without a proper acclimation period. It would be beneficial to have a more gradual progression. Also, the translated skill names were a bit confusing and took me out of the story. Clearer translations, perhaps with the original skill name in brackets, would be a huge improvement.

Final Verdict
Overall, "The Villain Carries the Holy Sword" is a mixed bag. It has engaging characters and an intriguing premise, but the pacing and translation issues can be a bit jarring. If you're willing to overlook some of its flaws and enjoy a character-driven story with a touch of darkness, it might be worth a read. Just be prepared for a potentially bumpy ride.
