Description
During my university years, I “bought” a boyfriend. As long as he was with me, I would take care of his family’s medical expenses. This poor top student followed me for four years in humiliation. Later, my family went bankrupt. When we broke up, he was still indifferent, without a word to keep me. Later on, I worked as a waitress at a karaoke to pay off debts, while he became a tech tycoon and got together with the class beauty from those days. He asked me, “Do you regret it?” “No.” “But I do.”

My Thoughts on The Moonlight Never Falls
"The Moonlight Never Falls" promised a dramatic romance, and for the most part, it delivered. The core of the story revolves around Yu Ming and Yang Jing Zhi, college sweethearts separated by misunderstandings and reunited four years later. I found the premise intriguing, and while it had some stumbles, I ultimately enjoyed the journey.
First Impressions
I was immediately drawn in by the initial setup. The idea of a couple torn apart by circumstance and societal pressures, then given a second chance, is classic for a reason. The angst was palpable from the start, and as someone who enjoys a bit of emotional turmoil in my reads, I was eager to see how things would unfold.
What Works Well
One of the strongest points, in my opinion, was the relatively quick resolution of the central conflict. The misunderstandings, while present, didn't drag on endlessly. I appreciated that the author allowed the characters to communicate and address their issues head-on, a refreshing change from some novels where miscommunication is used as a primary plot device for far too long. The male lead's devotion also shone through. The lengths he went to in order to find the female lead after their separation, including building a tech company, were genuinely touching and demonstrated the depth of his feelings. The story also touches on realistic challenges faced by couples with different financial backgrounds. I appreciated that the author acknowledged the different viewpoints and priorities that can arise from such disparities.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the story overall, I can see why some readers might find certain aspects frustrating. The plot does rely heavily on misunderstandings, and at times, these felt a bit forced. One such instance is when the female lead runs away after seeing a screenshot, which seems a bit extreme. Some events later in the story also stretch believability. I also felt that the love rival was unnecessary and detracted from the core relationship.

Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "The Moonlight Never Falls" is a worthwhile read for those who enjoy angst-filled romances with a touch of realism. While the misunderstandings can be frustrating at times, the strong character development, relatively quick resolution, and happy ending make it a satisfying story overall. I'd recommend it to readers who are looking for a short, completed novel with a focus on couple growth and devoted love interests.
