My Thoughts on The Holy Lady, The Curse
"The Holy Lady, The Curse" certainly sparked some strong opinions, and after diving in, I can see why. This adult fantasy romance, currently ongoing, promises a tale of curses, knights, and obsessive love, all set against a European-esque backdrop. It's a heady mix, and while it hits some high notes, it also stumbles in a few key areas.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise. A holy lady burdened by a curse and a stoic knight falling head-over-heels? Sounds like my kind of story! The early chapters introduce us to Belotta, the aforementioned holy lady, and Seiden, our brooding ML. The story unfolds through both of their perspectives, which offers a nice balance.
What Works Well
Seiden, despite being a typical powerful knight with the dark hair and red eyes combo, has a compelling depth. He's not overly heroic, and his sense of justice is tempered by practicality. I appreciate that he's not a frustrating "goody two shoes." Belotta, on the other hand, is a genuinely good-hearted character, dedicated to helping others, even to the point of recklessness. I like her stubbornness and her unwavering belief in doing what's right, even if it puts her at odds with Seiden's more pragmatic approach. The intensity of Seiden's love for Belotta is a major draw for many readers, and I can see the appeal.
Areas of Concern
However, the initial charm started to fade as I progressed. The character development feels a bit rushed. While we're told about their personalities, I didn't always feel like I truly knew them. The interactions between Belotta and Seiden can be frustrating. Belotta's constant rejection of Seiden's help, even when it's clearly needed, felt forced and detracted from her character. Also, communication is definitely not their strong suit. It's a shame, because the underlying potential for a compelling romance is definitely there.

Final Verdict
"The Holy Lady, The Curse" is a mixed bag. The intriguing premise and the potential for a deeply devoted ML are definitely pluses. However, the somewhat shallow character development and frustrating communication issues hold it back. If you're looking for a quick and steamy fantasy romance and can overlook some of the flaws, you might find something to enjoy here. But if you prefer more nuanced characters and a smoother plot, this one might leave you wanting. I'm giving it a tentative 3.5 out of 5.
