My Thoughts on Sweet (Daldal)
"Sweet (Daldal)" is a web novel that definitely left an impression on me. Diving into this story was a rollercoaster of emotions, and while it's not without its darker elements, I found myself captivated by the complex characters and the unique world the author created.
First Impressions
From the very beginning, I was drawn in by the dynamic between the naive, almost childlike MC and the cold, ruthless ML. The initial premise, where the ML essentially treats the MC as a captured animal, certainly sets a dark tone. It's a story that doesn't shy away from mature themes, and the tags are definitely there for a reason. However, there's a certain charm to the early chapters, a sense of intrigue that made me want to see how their relationship would evolve.
What Works Well
One of the strongest aspects of "Sweet (Daldal)" is the character development, particularly the slow burn of the central relationship. Watching the MC learn about the world and human society was genuinely endearing, and his naivete, while sometimes frustrating, felt consistent with his isolated upbringing. The ML, despite his flaws, also undergoes a transformation, and I appreciated that the author didn't shy away from depicting his cruelty, even as he began to care for the MC. The plot itself is engaging, with unexpected twists that kept me guessing. The author does a great job of showing how a cruel person would act, and the realism of the story, despite its fantasy elements, is one of its greatest strengths.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the story overall, the MC's naivety did become a bit grating at times, especially later in the novel. I can understand why some readers might find it difficult to connect with a character who seems so oblivious to the dangers around him. Also, the ML's actions, particularly his cruelty towards the MC's kind, are definitely a point of contention. While he does eventually acknowledge his wrongdoings, some readers might find it difficult to forgive him.

Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, I believe "Sweet (Daldal)" is a hidden gem that deserves more attention. It's a story that will make you feel things, and while it's not always a comfortable read, it's ultimately a rewarding one. If you're looking for a novel with complex characters, a well-developed plot, and a unique take on the romance genre, I highly recommend giving "Sweet (Daldal)" a try. Just be sure to check the tags and be prepared for a journey that is both sweet and unsettling.
