My Thoughts on Stigmata
"Stigmata" has been on my radar for a while, especially since I've been seeing the manhwa floating around. I finally decided to dive into the original novel, and I have some thoughts.
First Impressions
The European-inspired aristocratic setting immediately grabbed my attention. I'm a sucker for that kind of historical fantasy backdrop, and "Stigmata" delivers it with a certain flair. I was also intrigued by the tags, particularly the "cautious protagonist" and "devoted love interests." It hinted at a potentially complex and emotionally rich story, and that's exactly what I was hoping for.
What Works Well
The characters are definitely a highlight. They're well-developed and feel incredibly real. The romance is also a major draw, built on genuine affection and consent, which is always a huge plus in my book. The male lead is undeniably handsome, and the devotion of his love interests adds a layer of sweetness to the often dramatic plot.
I also appreciate the protagonist's cautious nature. It's refreshing to see a character who isn't reckless and thinks before acting. This cautiousness, combined with his determination, makes him a compelling figure to follow. The story is complex and while it was confusing at times, I was never bored.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Stigmata" is a captivating read. While the plot can be a bit intricate at times, the strength of the characters and the engaging romance more than make up for it. If you're a fan of adult fantasy with a mature tone, a historical setting, and a focus on character relationships, I highly recommend giving "Stigmata" a try. I'm eagerly awaiting more of the translation!
