Description
Five years ago, Lu Huaiyan’s casual remark—“Dull and uninteresting, nothing special”—buried Jiang Se’s girlish affections on the night of her 18th birthday. That night, Jiang Se secretly made a wish: May someone, in this lifetime, ride in with glory and trample his face into the ground. Five years later, Jiang Se suddenly fell from being a prestigious socialite of Beicheng to a fake heiress with a poor background. Losing her title, leaving Beicheng, and becoming self-reliant—she accepted it all gladly. The only tiny regret? She figured she’d never get to witness Lu Huaiyan’s face being mercilessly ground into the dirt. Later— The cold and ruthless heir of the Lu family accidentally found out about her little regret. Understanding just how much of a grudge she could hold, he pulled her out of bed, lifted her left foot, and pressed his face against it, speaking leisurely: “Go ahead, rub all you want.” Jiang Se: “…” — Once, when Jiang Se followed behind him calling “Huaiyan-ge,” Lu Huaiyan didn’t even spare the little girl a glance. Later, he realized—it was damn near impossible to coax her into calling him “Huaiyan-ge” again… One day, rumors spread that Lu Huaiyan was engaged to the Guans’ little princess. Jiang Se sent him a short message: Goodbye. That night, Lu Huaiyan rushed to the airport to stop her. Jiang Se smiled. “Lu Huaiyan, I don’t touch what belongs to others. Let’s part on good terms.” Lu Huaiyan gritted his teeth, grabbed her wrist, and said, “What? You don’t even touch what belongs to you anymore?” Shortly after, the Lu family’s CEO made it to the trending searches with a single Weibo post: #Not engaged. No marriage. My little ancestor is hard to please and hard to win over. I’m still pursuing her.#

My Thoughts on She’s Really Hard to Coax
First Impressions
Going into "She’s Really Hard to Coax," I expected a light, fluffy revenge story, maybe with a dash of romance. The synopsis definitely gives off that vibe. However, I quickly realized this novel delves into much darker and more complex themes than anticipated. It's a story about trauma, healing, and the slow, painstaking process of finding solace in another person. It's definitely not your average face-slapping C-novel.
What Works Well
One of the strongest aspects of this novel is its portrayal of trauma. The female lead (FL) is not bright and bubbly, and her coldness is understandable given her experiences. The male lead (ML), while initially appearing to be the typical cold CEO, is surprisingly emotionally intelligent and supportive. He's a definite green flag, consistently respecting her boundaries and offering unwavering support without being overbearing. Their relationship is built on trust and understanding, which is refreshing. I appreciated the lack of typical drama such as love triangles or pointless misunderstandings fueled by other women. The characters are well-developed and likable, despite their flaws, making it easy to become invested in their journey.
Areas of Concern
The writing style took a bit of getting used to. The short, choppy sentences sometimes felt forced and detracted from the flow of the story. While it improved as I read on, it was initially distracting. I also felt that some plot threads were left unresolved, leaving me with lingering questions.

Final Verdict
Despite some minor flaws in the writing style and unresolved plot points, "She’s Really Hard to Coax" is a compelling and thought-provoking novel. It's a story that explores the depths of trauma and the difficult path to healing, offering a nuanced and realistic portrayal of its characters. If you're looking for a lighthearted read, this isn't it. But if you're willing to delve into a heavier, more emotionally complex story with well-developed characters and a supportive romance, I'd recommend giving it a try. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
