My Thoughts on Seeking for Your Forgiveness
"Seeking for Your Forgiveness" presents a familiar premise: a long-suffering wife finally leaves her emotionally unavailable husband, prompting him to realize what he's lost. This story attempts to add a layer of intrigue with a murder mystery and a badass female lead, but falls short in its execution.
First Impressions
I was initially drawn in by the setup. Marianne, the female lead, is a strong character who defied expectations by attending law school. Her journey from ambitious student to neglected wife is compelling, and I sympathized with her decision to leave her cold marriage and pursue her own goals. The initial chapters promised a tale of self-discovery and empowerment, which is always something I enjoy.
What Works Well
The early focus on Marianne's escape and her resolve to forge a new path is definitely a highlight. I also appreciated the potential for a compelling murder mystery surrounding her sister's death. The author clearly intended to create a strong female lead who reclaims her independence, and in the beginning, that vision shines through. I found myself rooting for her to succeed in her new career and uncover the truth behind her sister's demise.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the pacing quickly becomes a problem. The "refrigerator husband" tracks her down far too quickly, undermining her hard-won freedom. His immediate presence and attempts to win her back felt rushed and cliché, robbing Marianne of the space she needed to truly rediscover herself. The male lead's character also presents an issue. While his childhood trauma is meant to explain his emotional unavailability, it doesn't excuse his neglectful behavior towards his wife. His sudden change of heart feels unearned, and his methods of pursuing her border on obsessive, which isn't my cup of tea. The author also relies heavily on familiar tropes, making the story feel predictable and lacking originality. The female lead wavering on her decision also makes her seem less strong and independent.

Final Verdict
While "Seeking for Your Forgiveness" has an interesting premise and the potential for strong character development, it ultimately falls short due to its rushed pacing, reliance on clichés, and questionable character motivations. The female lead is robbed of her independence, and the male lead's sudden change of heart feels unconvincing. I can't give it a strong recommendation.
