The premise immediately grabbed my attention: a reborn protagonist, Zhong Yansheng, mistakenly pursuing the wrong brother in a complex political landscape. The initial setup is quite charming, with Yansheng's naivete and the male lead, Xiao Nong's, cynical nature creating an interesting dynamic. I was definitely intrigued to see how their relationship would develop amidst courtly intrigue.

What Works Well

I appreciated the author's ability to build a tense atmosphere, particularly in the first half of the novel. The political scheming and power plays kept me guessing, and I found the characters to be well-developed, especially the villains. There were no simple mustache-twirling bad guys here.
