Right off the bat, the dynamic between the main characters is... intense. The male lead's initial behavior is a major sticking point. He starts off despising Rosalind because of her father's actions, which leads to him treating her terribly, and that's putting it mildly.

The fact that she initially tolerates this behavior and hopes for a change also frustrated many. The early chapters paint a picture of a toxic relationship that's hard to root for, and it's understandable why some readers couldn't continue.
