My Thoughts on Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who’s the Witch of Fate’s Great Call
This novel was quite the ride! A steamy fairytale retelling with a healthy dose of enemies-to-lovers tension? Sign me up! I went in expecting a light and fluffy read, and while it definitely delivered on the fluff, it also surprised me with its engaging characters and satisfying romance.
First Impressions
The premise itself is intriguing. An arranged marriage, a powerful witch, and a lonely king – the stage is set for some serious drama. I was immediately curious about how the relationship between Kalynia and the king would develop, especially given the initial animosity between them. I'm not usually one for romance novels, but I was not disappointed.
What Works Well
What I enjoyed most was the dynamic between the leads. Kalynia's initial disdain for the king was a breath of fresh air. So often, female leads in this genre are instantly drawn to the male lead, so seeing her stand her ground and even be disgusted by him was a welcome change. It made their eventual romance feel much more earned.
And speaking of the king, wow! His devotion was seriously swoon-worthy. He fell hard and fast for Kalynia, and his constant displays of affection, even when she was pushing him away, were incredibly endearing. I appreciated his vulnerability and how he wasn't afraid to show her how much he adored her. I loved how he was ready to melt over any bit of affection Kalynia gave him.

Overall, Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who’s the Witch of Fate’s Great Call is a fun and satisfying read. If you're looking for a lighthearted fairytale retelling with plenty of steam and a devoted male lead, this might be right up your alley. It's not a groundbreaking piece of literature, but it delivers exactly what it promises: a sweet and spicy romance between a lonely king and a cheeky witch. I'd definitely recommend it as a guilty pleasure read!
