My Thoughts on Long Live Hate
"Long Live Hate" is definitely a ride. It's a complex story that pulled me in despite some reservations I had along the way. The world-building and the characters, especially the MC, kept me invested, even when the plot stumbled a bit. It's not a perfect novel, but it's one that I found myself thinking about long after I finished reading.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise and the tags. The combination of "adult," "psychological," and "yaoi" hinted at a story with depth, and for the most part, it delivered. The dynamic between the characters, particularly the ML and MC, was intriguing, even if it was frustrating at times. I immediately knew that the characters would be complex and flawed, which is something I appreciate in a story.
What Works Well
The main character is exceptionally well-developed. His kindness and the difficult situations he's forced into create a compelling narrative. I found myself rooting for him, even when he was making questionable choices. Many readers appreciate that he doesn't really have a choice in most things. I also enjoyed the overall complexity of their relationship; it felt realistic in a way, with more downs than ups, which made the eventual resolution all the more satisfying. I also enjoyed the fact that the MC knows he can trust the ML to save him if he ever ends up failing his mission.
Areas of Concern
The ML's character is a bit of a mixed bag. While his backstory is interesting, the execution feels somewhat lacking. The trauma that he has is not deeply explored, and the reasons for his hate for male guides wasn't delved into enough. I also agree that the ML's apology for his mistakes felt rushed, which was frustrating considering the gravity of his actions. The villain, while present, didn't leave much of an impression. They felt like a plot device rather than a fully realized character, which was disappointing.

Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "Long Live Hate" is an engaging read. The complex characters and the realistic portrayal of their struggles make it worth the investment. While the ML's development could have been handled better, the overall story is compelling and leaves a lasting impression. I'd recommend it to readers who enjoy mature, psychological stories with flawed characters and a slow-burn romance.
