Initially, I was intrigued by the premise. A protagonist who isn't necessarily heroic, but rather a bit petty and self-serving, trying to build up his family in a cultivation world? That's a refreshing change from the usual goody-two-shoes MC. The early chapters focusing on city-building and accumulating wealth were engaging, and I found myself enjoying the slower pace.

The MC, Xia Changge, is more of an adult than many protagonists I've encountered, making his choices and actions feel more believable, even when questionable.
