Description
Charles Ryan, a dragon, guarded the dragon island every day until he reached adulthood and fulfilled his obligation to capture the kingdom’s most beautiful princess. But before the little milk dragon crossed the sea, he was swept away by the huge waves and arrived in a continent he had never seen before. Then he was detained by a particularly strange person. The man had an arrogant expression, his black hair was long and reached his waist, his dark eyes were like the eyes of the undead and he wore weird clothes that he had never seen before and had immobilized him with a single touch. Jiang Wuyi: What are you? Charles: I am a dragon! Jiang Wuyi: Lies. Charles: I’m really a dragon. Look at my wings when I spread it out, they’re bigger than a ship. After saying that, the person in front of him disappeared. The little milk dragon raised his head on instinct and found that the sky has darkened and then he saw a claw that was bigger than a ship! The eastern dragon swimming above the clouds watching everything: I am the dragon. Charles: ! ! !

My Thoughts on I’m Really A Dragon
"I'm Really A Dragon" is a completed Chinese web novel with ongoing translations that promises a blend of adventure, comedy, and romance with a shounen ai/yaoi twist. After diving into the available information, I've got a pretty good feel for what this story offers. It seems to have garnered a dedicated fanbase, but also some strong opposing opinions.
First Impressions
The initial draw seems to be the main character, Charles Lean, a half-breed dragon described as incredibly cute and naive. The premise involves him somehow ending up in the world of the male lead, Jiang Wuyi, an Azure dragon. The story then follows their journey together, supposedly to help Jiang Wuyi regain his powers. I'm intrigued by the Western dragon in an Eastern setting, and the fish-out-of-water potential.
What Works Well
Many readers praised the comedic elements stemming from Charles's innocence and naivety. Apparently, his misunderstandings and antics lead to hilarious situations, often enabled by Jiang Wuyi. I'm particularly amused by the descriptions of Charles's tone-deaf suona playing and his inability to grasp basic concepts. The romance is also a big selling point for some, with the "doting love interest" dynamic being a major draw. Several readers mentioned that the story really impressed them, and the romance was a 10/10. It seems the author does a good job of making the MC strong without the ML having to do everything. Also, I found it interesting that the ML isn't the "typical cold sadistic dude" and eventually shows a more caring side.
Areas of Concern
However, not all opinions are glowing. A significant criticism revolves around the portrayal of the relationship between Charles and Jiang Wuyi. Some readers found Jiang Wuyi's behavior to be abusive and degrading, particularly in the early stages of the story. The "naive protagonist" aspect also seems to be a point of contention, with some finding Charles's mental capacity frustratingly childish. This is a big turn-off for many, and can easily make or break a story. Another area of concern is the pacing. One reader mentioned that the plot can feel circular, with the characters encountering issues that take a long time to resolve.

Final Verdict
"I’m Really A Dragon" seems to be a novel with a lot of potential, especially if you enjoy cute protagonists, doting love interests, and comedic situations. However, it's crucial to be aware of the potential pitfalls, particularly the potentially problematic dynamic between the main characters. If you're sensitive to abusive relationships or find extremely naive characters irritating, this might not be the story for you. I will say, though, that the many 5/5 reviews, along with the "very cute" comment, make me want to give this story a try.
