Description
One day during his holiday, Yuusuke Ogami happens to witness his classmate, Nanase Hiyori, confronting her childhood friend, Kouma Yoshihide. In fact, the two had secretly been dating for a year, but during the same period, Yoshihide was also seeing another girl, essentially two-timing Hiyori. After being hit with the lowest of words from a defiant Yoshihide, Hiyori, heartbroken, ran off. Unable to leave her like that, Yuusuke decided to chase after her to talk. This event marks the beginning of their growing connection, and Yuusuke gradually becomes closer to Hiyori. From eating meals together at home, going on dates, to even spending the night, the mismatched couple—separated by a height difference of more than 30 centimeters—continues to close the gap between them. Meanwhile, Yoshihide, who cheated on Hiyori, still assumes that their childhood friendship gives him an advantage. Misinterpreting the situation, he smugly thinks, “Things will return to how they were soon enough,” but of course, that was never going to happen… The main focus is on the sweet romance between the protagonist and the heroine, with a touch of comeuppance for the antagonist.

My Thoughts on I’ll Take Nanase-san, Who Is Small And Adorable, Away From Her Cheating And Clueless Ex And Make Her Happy.
Okay, I'll be honest, the title alone grabbed my attention. It's a mouthful, but it promises a specific kind of wish-fulfillment fantasy, and I was curious to see if it delivered. After diving in, I've got some thoughts.
First Impressions
The premise is straightforward: a protagonist steps in to rescue Nanase-san from a terrible relationship. It's a classic setup, and right away, I was wondering if it would fall into predictable traps or offer something fresh. My initial feeling was cautiously optimistic. I was concerned about whether the story would play into tired tropes.
What Works Well
One of the strongest aspects of this novel, in my opinion, is the balance it strikes with its characters. I appreciated that the protagonist isn't an over-the-top "alpha" type, nor is he frustratingly passive. He's caring and determined, which makes him relatable and easy to root for. The story avoids the annoying "hidden relationship" trope, where characters are too embarrassed to acknowledge each other in public. I found this refreshing. It allows the relationship between the main characters to develop naturally and avoids unnecessary drama. The story moves forward at a good pace, and I never felt bogged down by contrived misunderstandings.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the story overall, I can see where some readers might find it a bit too reliant on familiar tropes. The "small and adorable" love interest is a common archetype, and while Nanase-san is likable, the story doesn't always delve deeply into her character beyond these surface-level traits. I would have liked to see more exploration of her inner life and motivations.
Final Verdict
"I’ll Take Nanase-san, Who Is Small And Adorable, Away From Her Cheating And Clueless Ex And Make Her Happy" is a solid read if you're looking for a fluffy, feel-good romance. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it executes its premise well, with a likeable protagonist and a satisfyingly straightforward plot. If you're tired of overly dramatic or frustratingly slow-burn romances, this might be exactly what you need. I'd recommend giving it a try, especially if you enjoy stories where the good guys (and girls) get a happy ending.
