My Thoughts on I Raised an Obsessive Servant
"I Raised an Obsessive Servant" had me intrigued from the start, and after diving in, I can see why it's garnered such a dedicated following. It's a transmigration story with a twist, focusing on a protagonist who's trying to avoid a villainous fate by nurturing the future male lead. While the title might suggest a certain character dynamic, the reality seems far more nuanced and heartwarming.
First Impressions
Initially, I was a bit wary of the title, fearing another generic, cringe-worthy story. However, I quickly found myself drawn into the world and the characters. The premise is that our MC transmigrates into the body of a young noblewoman destined to be a villainess. Knowing her fate, she decides to change the course of events by taking in the abused, abandoned boy who is destined to become a powerful mage and her eventual downfall.
What Works Well
The heart of this story lies in the relationship between Yurina (the MC) and Raynard (the ML). Their interactions are genuinely sweet and bring a lot of life to the novel. I especially appreciate that the story emphasizes the mutual care and respect between them. It's not a one-sided obsession as the title might imply. I also enjoyed the little bit of mystery surrounding the ML's powers and the hints of a larger, more complex plot.
I also liked that the MC isn't all-knowing or perfect. She struggles with remembering the details of the original novel, which makes her actions and anxieties feel more believable. Her desire to survive is understandable, and I like that she tries to balance her self-preservation with her moral compass.
Areas of Concern
While the initial chapters captivated me, some readers felt the story lost its spark later on. There were complaints about the plot becoming repetitive and the ending feeling rushed and unsatisfying. Some also felt that the pacing dragged in places, making the story feel longer than it needed to be. I can understand the concern about pacing.

Final Verdict
Overall, I think "I Raised an Obsessive Servant" is a worthwhile read, especially if you enjoy transmigration stories with a focus on character development and sweet relationships. While it might have some pacing issues and a potentially divisive plot point later on, the early chapters are engaging, and the central relationship is genuinely heartwarming. Just be aware that the title is a bit misleading – it's more about mutual affection and growth than obsessive servitude.
