Description
The novel “What Happens When Villains Get Stronger” was the only joy in my repetitive daily life. One day, I woke up to find myself in the story as a “nameless assassin”. “Who am I supposed to assassinate now?” In a world ruled by villains, I find myself dragged to a place where my chances of survival are nearly zero from the start.

My Thoughts on How to Survive Against Villains
"How to Survive Against Villains" threw me into a world where survival is a brutal, uphill battle, and I found myself surprisingly invested. The premise is simple enough: a transmigrator wakes up as a nameless assassin in a novel he read, tasked with a suicidal mission. From there, it's a desperate fight to stay alive in a world teeming with powerful and cruel villains.
First Impressions
Initially, the novel grabs you with its dark tone and the protagonist's immediate suffering. The author doesn't shy away from putting the MC, Arthur, through the wringer, and it can feel a bit heavy-handed at first. I definitely felt the tension and desperation as he clawed his way out of impossible situations.
What Works Well
What really hooked me was the protagonist's resourcefulness and sheer will to survive. He's not overpowered from the start; he's forced to rely on his knowledge of the novel and his own cunning to outwit his enemies. The plot is well-paced, and the world-building is intriguing, with diverse races and complex relationships. I also appreciated that the female characters aren't just there for eye candy; they're strong, independent individuals who play significant roles in the story. The villains are genuinely terrifying, making every victory feel hard-earned. The side characters are well developed and not just plot devices.
Areas of Concern
One concern that did pop up for me was the pacing of the MC's power progression. Some readers felt that Arthur became too strong too quickly, diminishing the tension that was so palpable in the beginning. While I can see that point, I also think that the author does a decent job of introducing new challenges and limitations to keep things interesting. Also, the translation has some inconsistencies with names and terms, which can be a bit confusing at times.

Final Verdict
Overall, I found "How to Survive Against Villains" to be a gripping and entertaining read. Despite some minor flaws, the engaging plot, well-developed characters, and brutal world make it a standout in the transmigration genre. If you're looking for a novel where the protagonist truly has to fight for every inch, this one is definitely worth checking out. I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
