Description
Practicing the piano disturbed the neighbors, so I specially bought a columbarium apartment. I was the only living person in the entire building, so I could play however I liked. One day, while I was deeply immersed in my practice, a sudden roar erupted, “So annoying! The fourth measure is wrong, wrong, wrong!” A chill ran down my spine. “Master, how about teaching me a bit?”

My Thoughts on Encore
"Encore" promised a blend of drama, the supernatural, and tragedy, and I have to say, it largely delivered on that promise, albeit in a compact and emotionally charged package. As someone who enjoys a good, albeit potentially heart-wrenching, story, I found myself drawn into its unique premise.
First Impressions
The initial setup is intriguing. The female lead moving into a neighborhood that essentially houses a columbarium for the wealthy immediately sets a somewhat melancholic and eerie tone. The introduction of a ghost who's less than impressed with her piano playing definitely piqued my interest. I was curious to see where this unconventional relationship would lead and what secrets this spectral pianist held.
What Works Well
The story's strength lies in its ability to weave a compelling narrative within a relatively short span. The mystery surrounding the ghost's identity, his connection to the renowned piano prodigy Xiao Lang, and the truth behind his musical talent are all masterfully unveiled. The revelation that he was actually Xiao Lang's stand-in, the one truly playing the music while Xiao Lang mimed due to a genetic condition, adds a layer of tragic depth to his character. I found myself invested in his story and wanting him to finally receive the recognition he deserved. The female lead's eventual quest to expose the Xiao family and release an album of his music is a satisfying act of revenge and redemption.

Final Verdict
Overall, "Encore" is a compelling and emotionally resonant read. While I, like some other readers, might have wished for a reincarnation trope or a more overt romantic subplot, the story's ending is satisfying in its own way. It's a testament to the author's ability to craft a poignant and memorable narrative in a short amount of time. If you're looking for a quick but impactful read that explores themes of talent, deception, and the search for recognition, "Encore" is definitely worth checking out. I give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
