My Thoughts on Come On Now, Even If I’m Not A Villain
"Come On Now, Even If I’m Not A Villain" is a completed fantasy romance that I found to be quite a mixed bag, although ultimately enjoyable. The premise, with its broken engagement and complex family dynamics, definitely had me intrigued. However, the execution had some definite highs and lows.
First Impressions
Initially, I was a little thrown off. The opening chapters felt a bit disorienting, with multiple points of view introduced quickly. I can see why some readers felt like they were thrown into the deep end without enough context. The writing style, at times, felt a little clunky, but I found that it improved as the story progressed.
What Works Well
Despite the initial confusion, the protagonist, Seraphine, is ultimately quite compelling. I appreciated her calm demeanor and how she navigates her complicated family relationships. The European-inspired setting and the hints of angelic lore definitely added to the story's charm. I also found myself invested in the potential romance, especially with the mystery surrounding Icarus and his possible connection to one of the male leads. I found the end of the story satisfying and thought that it was a cute romance.
Areas of Concern
One aspect that didn't entirely resonate with me was the speed at which Seraphine's family issues resolved. The initial neglect felt like it had the potential for deeper exploration, but it seemed to dissipate rather quickly. I can see why some readers might feel that the emotional impact was somewhat diminished by this rapid resolution. The family dynamic was a little too easily resolved.

Final Verdict
Overall, I'd give "Come On Now, Even If I’m Not A Villain" a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. While the initial chapters might require some patience, and the resolution of family conflicts feels a bit rushed, the intriguing premise, likeable protagonist, and potential for a compelling romance make it worth a read, especially if you enjoy fantasy stories with strong female leads and complex family dynamics. I hope there are side stories to come!
