When you need bulk find and replace
Translated novels often have inconsistent character names. Web novels accumulate typos across hundreds of chapters. Sometimes a translation renders a term one way in chapter 3 and a different way in chapter 50. Fixing these by hand means scrolling through the entire book. This tool does it in one pass.
Upload an EPUB or TXT file, type what you're looking for, and see every match with context before you change anything. You can also use regex, case-sensitive matching, and whole-word mode when you need more precision.
Search options
Case-sensitive search distinguishes uppercase from lowercase, so you can match "Li Wei" without also hitting "li wei" in pinyin annotations. Whole-word mode prevents partial matches — searching for "art" won't match "heart" or "start." Regex mode lets you write patterns for more complex searches, like matching any number followed by "章" (chapter markers in Chinese novels).
For EPUB files, results show which chapter each match appears in. For TXT files, you get line numbers instead.
Preview before replacing
The tool shows up to 100 match previews, each with surrounding context and the match highlighted. This lets you check that your search is matching what you actually want before committing to the replacement. No changes are made to the file until you click Replace.
How EPUB replacement works
EPUB files are HTML under the hood, which means a naive find-and-replace could corrupt tags and break formatting. This tool walks the text nodes in each content file individually, only modifying visible text. HTML tags, attributes, styles, and links are left untouched. The result is a valid EPUB with your replacements applied and formatting intact.
This matters most for translated novels where you want to standardize character names or terminology across chapters without breaking the ebook's structure.
