The premise immediately hooked me. The story revolves around Melly, raised alongside Duke Edric, who has been in love with him for years. The drama kicks in when Edric, oblivious to her feelings, considers marrying someone else. It's a classic setup, but the European ambience and aristocratic setting add a layer of intrigue.
What Works Well
The emotional complexity is what really shines. The story doesn't shy away from exploring the darker sides of love and relationships. I found myself engrossed in Melly's internal struggles as she grapples with Edric's coldness and the societal pressures of being a duchess.
