My Thoughts on When a Tyrant Dad Loves
Okay, buckle up, because "When a Tyrant Dad Loves" is a ride. And not necessarily a pleasant one. Going into this, I knew from the tags that it would be dark, but even then, I was... surprised. This novel definitely pushes boundaries, and whether that's a good thing is entirely up to the reader.
First Impressions
My initial reaction was definitely shock. The first few chapters throw you right into the deep end, and it's not a gentle wade. The atmosphere is heavy, oppressive, and dripping with a sense of dread. It's clear from the get-go that the relationship between Ashria and her father, Askaar, is deeply twisted and disturbing.
What Works Well
Honestly, it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what "works well" in the traditional sense. The author certainly isn't afraid to explore the darkest corners of human nature, and the story is undeniably gripping, even if it's in a horrifying way. The depiction of Ashria's suffering is visceral and, unfortunately, effective in conveying her despair. If you're looking for something that will leave you deeply disturbed and pondering complex themes, this might be it.
Areas of Concern
There are significant issues here. The translation quality is a major stumbling block. I found myself constantly struggling to decipher who was speaking or what was happening due to pronoun errors and awkward phrasing. When you're already dealing with such heavy subject matter, a poor translation makes it even harder to engage with the story. But the biggest issue for me is the... problematic relationship. It's a difficult topic to navigate and, for many, it might be a complete dealbreaker.

Final Verdict
"When a Tyrant Dad Loves" is a controversial and challenging read. It's not for the faint of heart, and I can only recommend it with extreme caution. If you're intrigued by dark themes and are prepared to confront deeply disturbing content, then proceed with awareness. However, be warned: the problematic elements and the translation issues may overshadow any potential redeeming qualities. For me, the story ultimately left me feeling more disturbed than satisfied. I'm giving it a 2/5.
