Description
In grade 10, Chen Qi continuously met the same male student every day she went to school. The male student was very tall, especially with his beautiful eyes that were usually obscured by a contemplative look. Strangely, whenever Chen Qi went out, she always met that male student. There were many people that she often encountered, but he was the only one who she could meet every day. Chen Qi did not believe in fate, nor did she believe in the so-called fate, until the day he came. Then suddenly one day, she never saw that male student again. At first, she did not think much of it, but every time Chen Qi passed Cornfield Road, she would subconsciously look for that familiar silhouette. Just one morning without seeing the male student, she would feel strange, and her heart would feel empty as if something was missing. He was a stranger on the street, but also someone special in Chen Qi’s heart. The yellowed cornfield leaves carried the bitter feelings of the young girl, fell to the ground and were blown away by the autumn wind. The leaves had flown away, but her feelings were still there. When the two met again, Chen Qi stared blankly at the person in front of her, while listening to a song playing, and the lyrics were just sung: “I have never believed so, so sure, who will be my destiny Until your light falls into my dark night.” Chen Qi suddenly remembered a sentence: “If you don’t forget it, there will be a reply.” —Falling in love with a stranger at first sight— Jiang Yan Yi X Chen Qi ~I’ve never believed in fate until the day you came~

My Thoughts on Until You Come
"Until You Come" is a sweet, lighthearted romance that took me back to the butterflies of first love. It's a quick read, perfect for when you want something heartwarming and uncomplicated. I found myself smiling throughout most of it, and the ending left me feeling genuinely content.
First Impressions
The premise immediately grabbed me: two strangers repeatedly crossing paths on their way to school. The idea of fated encounters and love at first sight is always appealing, and this story leans into that trope in a charming way. I was eager to see how their connection would develop and whether they would overcome the initial awkwardness of being strangers.
What Works Well
The strength of "Until You Come" lies in its relatability, especially concerning the female lead, Chen Qi. Her introverted nature and quiet admiration for Jiang Yan Yi felt incredibly authentic. The story beautifully captures the internal struggles and anxieties of having a crush, from the secret diary entries to the subtle ways she incorporates him into her daily life. The author did a great job of portraying the innocent emotions and longing that come with young love. The translation also felt smooth and easy to read, which really enhanced my overall experience. The story is simply a mellow and soft love story that can be enjoyed after a long day.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the novel, I can see where some readers might find the characters' passivity a bit frustrating. Chen Qi's hesitance to initiate contact with Jiang Yan Yi, despite her strong feelings, could be seen as a missed opportunity. While her shyness is understandable, I did wonder if the story could have benefited from a bit more proactive character development early on. Jiang Yan Yi is a bit mysterious as well, but this is done on purpose.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Until You Come" is a delightful and touching story that I would recommend to anyone looking for a sweet, uncomplicated romance. It's a perfect pick-me-up that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. While some may find the characters a bit too passive, the relatability of the female lead and the charming depiction of first love make this a worthwhile read. I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
