On the day when those who coveted the throne invaded the palace after her father’s death, Cheong-Ah recalls the snake in the underground prison. “If the country is going to perish anyway, I’ll make it perish with my own hands.” Instead of letting the kingdom fall into the hands of greedy individuals, Cheong-Ah decides to open the door of the underground prison, and the snake that has been imprisoned there for a long time is awakened.

The premise alone – a woman offering herself to a trapped snake in exchange for her country's prosperity – sets the stage for a dark and unusual story. The cover art gives you a good idea of what you're getting into, so if you're easily squicked out, proceed with caution.
What Works Well
Despite my initial reservations, I found myself drawn into the narrative. The author does a decent job of building the relationship between the female lead and the snake, making their connection feel somewhat natural, even amidst the bizarre circumstances. The story, though short, manages to weave in elements of revenge and hidden identity, adding layers to what could have been a simple smut story. I appreciated that the female lead wasn't entirely passive; she actively participates in shaping her own destiny, which made her more compelling. The smut scenes, while not always my cup of tea, were undeniably imaginative. I also found the ending surprisingly lovely, as both leads carve out their own paths to happiness.
Areas of Concern
Okay, let's address the elephant (or rather, the snake) in the room. The intimate scenes are... intense. If you're not comfortable with bestiality or non-humanoid anatomy, this is definitely not the novel for you. Some of the descriptions during the smut scenes were a bit off-putting, and I can understand why some readers might find them more horrifying than titillating.
