Description
Sophie, a low-ranking spiritist, set up a drugstore using money she stole. While enjoying the tranquility and peace in her drugstore, she treats a patient severely bleeding in the middle of the night. He was the lieutenant of the Duke of Arthur, who was also suffering from insomnia. Sophie serves the Duke tea with medicinal herbs to her regret. A few days later, Arthur returns to the drugstore. “How on earth did you do it?” It was insomnia that could not be cured with any medicine, and that day, he drank Sophie’s tea and slept in the carriage. “Did you put me to sleep with magic?” “… I just served you tea.” After that, Arthur accompanied the knights to visit the drugstore every day to bother Sophie, and to make matters worse, Prince Valentis, cursed by the dragon, also visited the drugstore. “Please go to the Imperial Palace with me!” Will Sophie be able to maintain a quiet drugstore life?

My Thoughts on This Is a Drugstore, Not a Teahouse
Alright, let's dive into "This Is a Drugstore, Not a Teahouse." With its blend of comedy, drama, fantasy, and romance, it certainly piqued my interest, and I went in with high hopes for a cute shoujo story. Overall, I found it to be a charming read, even if it wasn’t perfect.
First Impressions
The premise is definitely intriguing. We have a female protagonist navigating a world that feels both familiar and fantastical, reminiscent of a European-inspired setting. The addition of adorable little spirits, a male lead with insomnia, and the drugstore setting created a unique and quirky atmosphere. It felt like a breath of fresh air compared to some of the more generic isekai stories out there.
What Works Well
The "cute" factor is definitely a major draw. The interactions between the characters, especially the budding romance, are genuinely heartwarming. The author does a good job of establishing a lighthearted tone while still hinting at deeper emotional layers. The devotion of the love interests is also a big plus for me. I am a sucker for a doting love interest! The female lead is also refreshingly calm and collected, providing a nice contrast to some of the more high-strung protagonists we often see in this genre.
Areas of Concern
While the story has a lot going for it, it's not without its hiccups. The translation, while generally good, does have some inconsistencies. I saw some issues with terminology and word usage that could use some polishing. A little extra care in the editing process would definitely elevate the reading experience.
Final Verdict
Despite the minor translation issues, "This Is a Drugstore, Not a Teahouse" is a delightful read. The charming characters, the unique setting, and the promise of a sweet romance make it a worthwhile investment of your time. If you're looking for a lighthearted and heartwarming story with a touch of fantasy, this might just be the perfect prescription for you. I'm eager to see how the story unfolds and would definitely recommend giving it a try.
