My Thoughts on This Academy Is Doomed!

"This Academy Is Doomed!" certainly grabbed my attention with its premise: a down-on-his-luck protagonist stuck teaching at a bankrupt academy thanks to a hefty penalty fee. I've always been a sucker for underdog stories with a comedic twist, and this one seemed to promise exactly that.

First Impressions

The initial chapters were a blast. Amon's desperate attempts to sabotage the academy, only to accidentally make it thrive, are genuinely funny. The supporting cast, from the quirky elf administrators to the eccentric students, felt fresh and engaging. I was immediately invested in seeing how Amon would navigate this chaotic situation and whether he'd ever escape his contract.

What Works Well

The humor is definitely the strongest aspect of this novel. The author does a great job of creating absurd situations and characters that play off each other well. Amon's dry wit and constant internal monologues added another layer of comedy to the already ridiculous circumstances. I also appreciated the unique personalities of the students; a yandere who sees everyone as pigs except the MC and a narcissistic boy obsessed with his own image certainly stand out!

The quality of the writing and plot degrades, with jarring plot points and forced character actions. This is a shame, as the initial setup had so much potential.
