"The Saintess Returned to the Emperor's Arms" definitely pulled me in with its premise. A saintess returning to an emperor's embrace? It screams romance and political intrigue, and I was here for it! The tags – adult, fantasy, josei, royalty – further solidified my expectations for a mature and engaging story.
What Works Well
The core of this story, for me, lies in the relationship between the female lead (FL) and the male lead (ML). The FL is undeniably endearing, and I found myself instantly rooting for her. The ML, while fitting the typical powerful emperor mold, seems to have enough depth to keep things interesting. I especially appreciate the hints of his character that are revealed gradually; it's a nice touch that keeps me engaged. The side characters, too, seem to add a lot of flavor to the narrative. The dynamic between the ML and his aide/doctor, for example, seems to be a recurring highlight. The world-building, while still somewhat limited, holds a lot of promise. The hints about the FL's and ML's powers, and the rarity of magic in this world, create a sense of mystery that I'm eager to unravel.

My main reservation stems from the pacing of the reveals. Some plot points seem to be unfolding at a snail's pace, which can lead to frustration. I can see how waiting week after week for answers could become tiresome. This is definitely a series I'd recommend binging once more chapters are available to avoid those cliffhangers.
