My Thoughts on Tensegrity
"Tensegrity" is a novel that pulled me in with its chaebol-esque drama and complex characters. While the omegaverse setting provides a backdrop, the story delves deeper into family dynamics, personal struggles, and a slow-burn romance that kept me invested. It's not without its flaws, but the overall experience was compelling.
First Impressions
Initially, I found the main character, Jun Kyung, a bit off-putting. His actions and words early on, particularly his callous remark to Hyunwoo, created a sense of unease. However, as the story progressed, I began to understand the layers of trauma and guilt that shaped his personality. The translation can be a bit rough around the edges initially, but I quickly got used to it and it didn't detract from my enjoyment.
What Works Well
The strength of "Tensegrity" lies in its character development and intricate plot. I appreciated how the author fleshed out even minor characters, making them feel like real people with their own motivations. The slow-burn romance between Jun Kyung and the male lead is satisfying, built on a foundation of mutual respect and understanding. I also enjoyed the unique take on the omegaverse, where the influence of pheromones isn't overtly emphasized, allowing characters to navigate their secondary genders with more nuance. The unexpected kindness from the ML's stepmother was a welcome change from the typical villainous female characters often found in BL stories. The male lead is a total heartthrob, and I loved that the couple was masculine and manly.
Areas of Concern
One aspect that gave me pause was the handling of certain sensitive topics, particularly regarding Hyunwoo's actions and the lack of legal consequences for some characters. I found the resolution of the family conflicts somewhat rushed, especially concerning the ML's father and his neglectful behavior.

Final Verdict
Despite some questionable plot points and morally gray characters, I found "Tensegrity" to be a worthwhile read. The well-developed characters, engaging plot, and unique take on the omegaverse trope kept me hooked. If you're looking for a complex and dramatic BL novel with a focus on character-driven storytelling, I recommend giving "Tensegrity" a try. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
