My Thoughts on Teaching the Tyrant Manners
"Teaching the Tyrant Manners" is a novel I dove into with high expectations, and for the most part, it delivered a delightful experience. It's a blend of comedy, fantasy, and romance that had me chuckling, and occasionally wanting to scream at the characters for their hilarious misunderstandings. While it has its minor flaws, I found myself genuinely enjoying the ride.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked by the spunky female lead, Rivieri. The premise of her needing to teach manners to a tyrant, Croft, is interesting, and the early chapters were filled with laugh-out-loud moments. I immediately appreciated how the story tackled consent early on, a refreshing change from many similar novels. The interactions between Rivieri and Croft were the highlight and I was eager to see their relationship develop.
What Works Well
The humor is definitely a strong point. The character interactions are hilarious, and the misunderstandings, while sometimes frustrating, are generally well-executed. I particularly enjoyed how the male lead, despite being a "tyrant," has a surprisingly gentlemanly side. He's a bit rough around the edges, but his attempts to be caring and considerate are endearing. The female lead is equally compelling, and I found her boldness and determination to be admirable. The European ambience and the magic elements add a nice layer of depth to the world.
Areas of Concern
However, as the story progressed, I did notice some issues that held it back from being a perfect read. The plot falls into the familiar trope of "original novel this, original novel that," which can become a bit repetitive. I also found that the female lead spends a bit too much time in her own head, leading to assumptions and missed opportunities for genuine communication. This internal monologue sometimes slowed down the pace and made her seem less proactive. Additionally, the initial setup lacks some crucial information, leaving me wondering about the female lead's life before her isekai and the reasons behind it.

Final Verdict
Overall, "Teaching the Tyrant Manners" is an enjoyable read with a lot of potential. The humor, engaging leads, and interesting premise make it worth checking out. While the plot has some familiar tropes and pacing issues, the strengths of the characters and their interactions outweigh the weaknesses. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a lighthearted, comedic fantasy romance.
