Stalk Game Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on Stalk Game
"Stalk Game" is definitely a novel that leaves an impression. With its blend of adult themes, family drama, and yaoi romance, it's a twisted tale that kept me engaged from beginning to end. I found the dynamic between the two leads fascinating, even if morally complex. It's not a light read, but if you're looking for something with depth and intrigue, this might be right up your alley.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the European setting and the promise of a complicated relationship. The story revolves around two half-brothers, Irene and Cyril, and their intense, almost obsessive dynamic. Irene is portrayed as sickly and seemingly naive, while Cyril is the devoted and perhaps slightly unhinged younger brother. The short length of the novel (8 chapters) made it easy to dive in, but don't be fooled – each chapter is quite substantial.
What Works Well
The characters are undeniably the strongest aspect of "Stalk Game." Irene, in particular, is a compelling protagonist. I was constantly questioning his motives and true nature. Is he truly as innocent as he appears, or is there something darker lurking beneath the surface? Cyril's devotion is also captivating, even when it borders on obsession. The translation quality is also excellent, making the story flow smoothly. The plot is well-constructed, keeping you guessing and preventing any dull moments.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the story overall, some aspects could be improved. The pacing sometimes felt a bit slow, with certain revelations occurring abruptly. This could potentially disrupt the flow for some readers. I also found myself wishing for a bit more clarity on Irene's true character. While his ambiguity is part of what makes him interesting, a little more insight into his motivations would have been welcome.

Final Verdict
"Stalk Game" is a short but impactful read that explores the darker side of love and family. While the pacing and character ambiguity might not appeal to everyone, I appreciated the complex characters, intriguing plot, and excellent translation. If you're a fan of mature themes, morally grey characters, and a touch of the taboo, I would recommend giving "Stalk Game" a try. Just be prepared for a wild ride!
