Saving You, Villain Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on Saving You, Villain
"Saving You, Villain" promised a blend of fantasy romance with a dash of spice, and while it delivered on some fronts, I found myself a bit conflicted by the end. It's a story with intriguing elements, but also some frustrating execution.
First Impressions
The initial chapters are a whirlwind. We're thrown into Liv's transmigrated life as Camian's sickly lover, and a significant time skip leaves you playing catch-up. It's a bit jarring, and I felt like I missed out on crucial development of their relationship. The contract between them feels a little cliché, seemingly designed to fast-track the story towards the adult content.
What Works Well
Despite some initial stumbles, the story does have its strengths. The smut, while not the core focus, is well-executed. Camian's devotion to Liv is undeniably compelling. He's respectful and sweet, at least initially. The translator also deserves praise; the writing flows well and is easy to understand, which definitely enhances the reading experience. The plot twist surrounding Camian's time-traveling antics adds a layer of depth and explains his intense love for Liv.
Areas of Concern
Liv's character is a major sticking point. Her internal conflicts and inconsistent actions can be infuriating. Her reasons for pushing Camian away, despite her own attraction, feel flimsy and contradictory. It's hard to root for a character who seems determined to sabotage her own happiness, and Camian's as well.
The plot suffers from pacing issues and some confusing details, especially concerning Camian's background and the world's lore. The original ML is also confusing, his role changes without a clear reason. The story's trajectory sometimes feels aimless, driven more by the FL's questionable decisions than a coherent plot.

Final Verdict
"Saving You, Villain" is a mixed bag. While the translation is great, the story's pacing, plot holes, and FL's frustrating behavior hold it back. It has moments of genuine sweetness and steamy romance, but it's ultimately weighed down by inconsistent character development and a somewhat convoluted plot. It's a 3 out of 5 for me.
