Description

The request was to persuade the troublemaker Lee Hyun-joon to come to school. Thinking he could at least talk if they met somehow, Ji-woo tries to meet Hyun-joon, who is rumored to be such a serious delinquent that he’s been scouted by gangsters. But… “Hey, get lost. If you do this again, you’ll get hit, okay?” Hyun-joon acts threateningly and openly shows annoyance towards Ji-woo. This sparks a strange determination in Ji-woo, who starts following Hyun-joon everywhere, trying to persuade him to come to school. Hyun-joon finds Ji-woo’s persistence annoying and ridiculous. “You’re a stalker, aren’t you? Always looking for me. "Romantic Gangster" certainly grabbed my attention with its blend of mature themes, school life, and a touch of the omegaverse. The premise of a "delinquent Alpha" falling for a seemingly naive Omega in a high school setting is a refreshing twist on typical tropes. After diving into what other readers had to say, I have a better sense of what this story offers.
First Impressions
The initial hook seems strong. The contrast between the "pretty, dense Omega" protagonist (MC) and the less-than-perfect Alpha (ML) is intriguing. The story paints the ML as patient and devoted, which is always a plus in my book. However, I noticed that the initial translation situation was a bit messy, with chapters disappearing behind paywalls and translation teams dropping the project. Thankfully, it sounds like the original team has since released the locked chapters, so that's no longer a barrier to enjoying the story.

What stands out to me is the potential for a "green flag" romance. The ML's patience and genuine affection for the MC are definitely selling points. It's a valid point that the author could explore other ways to showcase the ML's attraction and the MC's omega traits without relying on potentially problematic tropes.
