Reincarnation of the Sword Master Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator
My Thoughts on Reincarnation of the Sword Master
After diving into "Reincarnation of the Sword Master," I've come away with a mixed bag of impressions. The novel definitely has some intriguing elements, but also some areas that left me wanting more.
First Impressions
The initial setup is fairly standard for the genre: a hardworking but "untalented" swordsman gets a second chance at life. I found the idea of a protagonist who isn't inherently gifted to be refreshing. It suggests a focus on effort and experience, which could lead to a compelling character arc. However, some early chapters felt a bit rough around the edges.
What Works Well
I appreciate the protagonist's down-to-earth personality. He's not an edgy anti-hero, which is a welcome change. I also liked the fast pace of the story and the long chapters. The author doesn't bog things down with excessive exposition, which keeps the story moving. There's also a certain charm in the MC's stoic nature, which sets him apart from the often aloof protagonists in similar novels.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, I also found some significant flaws. One of the biggest issues is the apparent inconsistency in the world-building and character development. The plot seems to contain some very large plot holes concerning the world, and the author's ability to keep track of details seems questionable, with contradictions appearing even in the early chapters.
The characters can also feel a bit bland and stereotypical. The MC's constant reminders of his lack of talent can become tiresome, and the side characters sometimes lack depth and believable motivations. I also felt that the characters' behaviors were sometimes inconsistent with their ages.

Final Verdict
"Reincarnation of the Sword Master" has potential, but it needs some serious polish. While I enjoyed the protagonist's personality and the fast-paced story, the inconsistencies in the plot and the underdeveloped characters ultimately detracted from my enjoyment. It's a decent read if you're looking for something light and don't mind overlooking some flaws, but it's not a must-read in my opinion.
