My Thoughts on Regression Guidelines For the Supporting Character
I dove into "Regression Guidelines For the Supporting Character" with high hopes, given the buzz around its unique blend of genres. With action, adventure, fantasy, and a mature BL storyline, it certainly promised a wild ride. After reading a good chunk of it, I have a few thoughts to share.
First Impressions
The premise is definitely intriguing. We have Cha Seohu, a regressor with a second chance to prevent a world-ending calamity. He's not some overpowered protagonist from the start, which I appreciated. He's got a strong sense of loyalty, especially towards those who've helped him. Then there's Cha Sahyeon, the potential "calamity" himself, rescued by Seohu and now intensely attached to him. The dynamic between these two is the core of the story, and it immediately grabbed my attention.
What Works Well
The character development is a major strength. Seohu's growth from a relatively weak support hunter to someone capable of actually making a difference is well-paced and believable. I particularly enjoyed how the author explores the complex relationship between Seohu and Sahyeon. The story makes you wonder if Sahyeon's fate is truly sealed, or if Seohu can change the future through his actions and care. The power system is also fairly well-executed. It's not overly complicated, making it easy to follow, but still offers enough depth to keep things interesting as Seohu levels up and gains new skills.
Areas of Concern
While the core relationship is compelling, the... intensity of Sahyeon's attachment might not be for everyone. It borders on obsessive, and while it adds to the dramatic tension, I can see how some readers might find it a bit unnerving, especially considering the age gap (at least physically) between the characters at certain points. Also, the plot does take a while to fully develop. The initial arcs are interesting, but you need to be patient to really get to the meat of the main storyline.

Final Verdict
Overall, "Regression Guidelines For the Supporting Character" is a solid read if you're into hunter-type novels with a BL twist. The MC is likable, the plot is engaging, and the central relationship is complex and intriguing. Just be aware of the potentially darker themes and the slow-burn plot. I'd give it a strong 4 out of 5 stars.
