First Impressions
My initial impression was definitely intrigue. The premise of a super-smart woman infiltrating a psychiatric hospital to save a man is instantly captivating. The story wastes no time setting up the mystery, and the further I dove in, the more I questioned everything – the hospital, its staff, and even the protagonist's motivations. It's the kind of book that makes you want to theorize with your friends!
What Works Well
The suspense is undeniably the novel's strongest point. The author masterfully builds tension, creating an atmosphere of unease and paranoia. I found myself constantly pausing to process what I'd just read, needing a moment before plunging back into the snakepit. The writing itself is quite beautiful, adding to the overall immersive experience. I also appreciated the "what if" element; the story presents so many potential paths that the MC could have taken, which really made me think about the consequences of each decision.
