My Thoughts on Obviously, It’s My Child
"Obviously, It’s My Child" is a web novel that initially charmed me with its premise, but as I dug deeper, I found myself with mixed feelings. It's a story with a lot of potential, blending fantasy, romance, and a touch of childcare into a European-inspired aristocratic setting. While I enjoyed certain aspects, some elements left me wanting more.
First Impressions
The early chapters definitely hooked me. There's a certain charm to the story and I was immediately drawn to the main character, Claire. The author sets up an intriguing situation, and I was eager to see how it would unfold. The translation by Belle Reservoir is also excellent, making the reading experience smooth and enjoyable.
What Works Well
The female lead, Claire, is a definite highlight. She's portrayed as intelligent, strong, and independent, which I always appreciate in a protagonist. I also enjoyed the initial plot setup and the overall world-building. The author does a good job of creating a believable aristocratic society. Many readers seem to love the fluffy, domestic moments, particularly the banter between characters. The child, Elliott, is also portrayed as being quite charming.
Areas of Concern
As the story progressed, I noticed some issues that detracted from my enjoyment. The plot, which started strong, seemed to lose its focus. Some felt that the couple got together too quickly, leading to a decline in overall interest. The male lead, Erich, was a point of contention for me. I found him to be somewhat immature and lacking in depth, with his sole purpose seemingly revolving around pursuing Claire. This lack of character development made it difficult for me to fully invest in his character. I also noticed the lack of strong female friendships for Claire, which contributed to a feeling of imbalance in the narrative.
Final Verdict
"Obviously, It’s My Child" has its strengths, particularly in its female lead and initial plot setup. However, the lack of depth in the male lead and the meandering plot ultimately held it back for me. While I can see why some readers enjoy the fluff and romance, I personally found it lacking in substance. It's a pleasant read, but not one that I would consider particularly memorable.
