Description
I became a childhood friend of the male lead, the persecuted emperor. The problem is that even though they were childhood friends, we got on the wrong line and my family ended up lying on the guillotine! In order to prevent this terrifying ending, I decided to be properly on the side of the Male Lead. “I will help the prince!” Rescuing the Male Lead from his abusive mother. “Please support the Swordsmanship School in Kyle’s name.” I became his legs. “Dating is pushing and pulling, and you just need to pull. Don’t push.” I even gave him dating advice so that he can have a smooth relationship with the future female protagonist. Now we’re the best friends in the world, no matter what anyone says! If this is the case, Kyle will also save our family when he becomes emperor, right? *** The long-awaited female protagonist, the saint, appeared in the capital. To become an emperor, you need the power of a saint, so I thought the two of them would be fine, but what is this? The Male Lead doesn’t budge. I got angry and scolded him for blowing up my special training. “I told you to just pull.” “Am I doing it like that?” Kyle grabbed me. I sat on his thigh in a daze. The handsome face is too close. Kyle whispered as he grabbed the ends of my hair and gave them a small kiss. “You said I should just pull.” That’s what I meant for you to do to the female lead…! I didn’t mean that you should do that to me!!!

My Thoughts on Male Lead, Don’t Push, Pull!
Okay, so I dove into "Male Lead, Don’t Push, Pull!" with pretty high hopes. The premise – a reincarnated protagonist trying to avoid a bad ending by befriending the male lead prince – sounded like a recipe for some lighthearted, fluffy fun. And, for a while, it really was! But ultimately, I walked away feeling a bit… conflicted.
First Impressions
The initial chapters definitely hooked me. The whole "reborn as a child" trope is always a guilty pleasure, and the European-esque setting was charming. I was genuinely invested in seeing how our female lead, with her future knowledge, would navigate the aristocratic world and build a relationship with the prince. The early interactions were cute, and I appreciated the focus on problem-solving, showing the FL's proactive nature.
What Works Well
The author does a great job of establishing the initial dynamic between the leads. The childhood friendship felt believable, and the FL's attempts to subtly steer the ML away from a doomed path were entertaining. I also appreciated the focus on the FL's intelligence and resourcefulness. She wasn't just a damsel in distress; she actively worked to change her fate and the fate of those around her. The writing style is also easy to get into, making it a quick and enjoyable read, at least initially.
Areas of Concern
However, as the story progressed, I started to lose some of my enthusiasm. While the initial focus on the FL and ML's relationship was charming, it felt like the story started to deviate from that core. The introduction of other potential love interests felt a bit forced, and I was left wondering if the story was losing its focus. The shift felt less organic and more like a checklist of popular tropes.

Final Verdict
"Male Lead, Don’t Push, Pull!" has a lot of potential, and the initial chapters are genuinely enjoyable. However, the later developments left me feeling a bit disappointed. If you're a fan of reverse harems and don't mind a deviation from the central FL/ML dynamic, you might still find something to enjoy here. But for me, the shift in focus ultimately detracted from what could have been a really great story. I'd give it a tentative 3/5 – worth checking out if you're curious, but be prepared for some potential trope overload.
