Description
During her second year of high school, Bo Ying set her sights on He Jingxiu, the top student from a neighboring school. After relentless teasing and persistence, she finally won him over, and he agreed to wait until she turned 18 to start dating her. After the college entrance exam, Bo Ying completely forgot about their promise. When they meet again, He Jingxiu has become her direct superior. From then on, Bo Ying lives in constant torment. Bo Ying: “I regret everything.” He Jingxiu: “She’s such a heartbreaker—she tricked me into believing she loved me and then forgot all about me.” Bo Ying: “…” One day, a colleague secretly witnesses Bo Ying throwing herself into He Jingxiu’s arms in the parking lot, only for him to push her away. Instantly, rumors spread like wildfire, with colleagues mocking Bo Ying for having delusions of becoming the president’s wife. When Bo Ying hears this while sitting in the president’s office, she snorts indignantly: “He Jingxiu, they’re saying I’m overreaching by dreaming of becoming your wife.” He Jingxiu smirks and gazes down at her: “You don’t want to be my wife?” Bo Ying: “You’d have to beg me before I even consider it.” He Jingxiu leans in, brushing his lips against the corner of her mouth, his voice deep: “I’m begging you.” “…………”

My Thoughts on Love Never Fails
"Love Never Fails" promised a second-chance romance with a boss-subordinate dynamic, and while it delivered on those fronts, my overall experience was a mixed bag. The story had potential, but some elements held it back from reaching its full potential.
First Impressions
The premise immediately grabbed my attention: a childhood promise, misunderstandings, and a reunion in a professional setting. I was prepared for angst and drama, but was pleasantly surprised at the story's lighter tone. The initial setup was well-executed, drawing me into the characters' shared past and hinting at the potential for a sweet, slow-burn romance.
What Works Well
What I appreciated most was the relative maturity of the main characters. They communicated fairly well, which prevented the story from being bogged down in unnecessary drama. The romance progressed at a decent pace, with the leads quickly moving past the ambiguous stage and establishing a comfortable, steady relationship. There was a definite sense of 默契 (understanding) between them, which made their interactions feel genuine and heartwarming. I found myself rooting for them to overcome their past misunderstandings and build a future together. The author did a good job of portraying a healthy and supportive relationship, which is always a plus in the romance genre.
Areas of Concern
While the lack of excessive angst was refreshing, I felt that some of the conflict felt a little too easily resolved. The pacing, while not rushed, could have benefited from a little more depth in certain areas. The female lead's parents also felt underdeveloped, bordering on caricatures. I found it hard to believe that she would invite her controlling parents to her wedding. However, they were largely background characters.
Final Verdict
"Love Never Fails" is a decent read for those seeking a lighthearted and relatively low-angst romance. While it may not be the most groundbreaking story, it offers a sweet and satisfying escape. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's a good choice for a quick and easy read, but don't expect a deeply complex or emotionally wrenching experience.
