I was just drunk with the mindset of being what I was supposed to be. Why is the Grand Duke lying next to me? Grand Duke of Mouton, Gerlac Cygnus. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you die.” New characters that did not exist until the last life also appeared. Handsome brother’s friend, Adrian Watford. “It seems like just yesterday when Libe said she would marry me, and she used to swear.” Even her mysterious fortune teller appears and leaves her scary words… “This is your last chance. My Thoughts on Looking for the Villainess Who Spent the First Night
"Looking for the Villainess Who Spent the First Night" promised a fresh take on the villainess trope, and after diving in, I have mixed feelings. It's a story with intriguing elements, but also some frustrating flaws that held it back from reaching its full potential.
First Impressions
The premise is definitely eye-catching: a female protagonist stuck in a time loop, desperately trying to avoid a tragic end tied to the original female lead. The European aristocracy setting and promise of romance certainly piqued my interest, and I was eager to see how the author would subvert the usual villainess narrative.
What Works Well
The mystery surrounding the true "villain" is genuinely compelling. The story dangles red herrings, keeping you guessing and preventing the plot from becoming predictable. I appreciated that the romance and problem-solving were intertwined, creating a balanced narrative. Also, the handsome male lead definitely adds to the charm.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue lies with the protagonist's character development, or rather, the perceived lack thereof. The fact that the FL is living through her 20th loop is hard to swallow. I found myself questioning some of her choices, especially her continued attachment to the original female lead despite the constant tragic outcomes. It felt like a missed opportunity to showcase significant growth and learning over so many iterations. The apparent lack of common sense also grated on me. It felt like the plot was being dragged down by the fl's repeated dumb decisions.

Final Verdict
"Looking for the Villainess Who Spent the First Night" has its moments of brilliance, particularly in its unpredictable plot and balanced blend of romance and mystery. However, the frustrating character choices and lack of perceived character development ultimately hampered my enjoyment. While the underlying reasons for the FL's actions are eventually revealed, the initial lack of explanation makes it difficult to connect with her. It's a novel with potential, but one that requires patience and a willingness to overlook some frustrating inconsistencies.
