Description
Morita Naoto spends his days avoiding falling for another girl ever since he was strongly rejected by a girl he confessed to. On the winter of his second year in high school, Naoto came to learn about the troubles of Oshida Natsuki, his childhood friend and neighbor in the same apartment complex. They’ve been estranged for many years, but for some reason Naoto can’t help but worry for Natsuki, so he offered to help her. However, on his first day of helping Natsuki, Naoto can’t provide proper support, and on the second day he can’t come up with any idea at all. This cause Naoto to worry that he is being useless to Natsuki. Despite it all, to show her gratitude, Natsuki offered Naoto her lap as a pillow, cleaned his ears, and promised to go out with him on Christmas Day. This caused Naoto to realize his feelings. Their relationship that had stood still began to change, and just like the old days, Naoto and Natsuki held their hands together. This time for sure, forevermore.

My Thoughts on It’s Too Early to be Having Newlywed Syndrome! ~Childhood Friends Who Rekindled their Love for Each Other ~
This novel is a fluffy, feel-good story that centers around childhood friends rekindling their romance. While it has its charms, particularly in the initial stages, it ultimately left me wanting more substance.
First Impressions
The premise is definitely appealing: childhood friends finding their way back to each other and navigating the exciting, yet sometimes awkward, early stages of a relationship. The initial chapters draw you in with the promise of sweet moments and heartwarming interactions. It definitely gave me the "awws" I was looking for.
What Works Well
The initial romance is undeniably sweet. The story wastes no time in getting the main characters together, which is a nice change of pace from some of the more drawn-out romance novels I've read. The focus is clearly on their relationship and the little joys of daily life as a couple. If you're looking for a light and fluffy read to escape into, this might scratch that itch.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the story seems to lose its way after the initial romance blossoms. The slice-of-life elements, while intended to be charming, fall a bit flat. The characters, while likable enough, lack depth and complexity. I found myself wanting more engaging interactions and a stronger sense of conflict or progression. It's not that the story is bad, but it becomes somewhat bland and repetitive. The male protagonist also seems to spend a lot of time apologizing, which can get a little tiresome after a while. I think the story would greatly benefit from more interesting character arcs and some added tension.
Final Verdict
"It’s Too Early to be Having Newlywed Syndrome!" is a decent read if you're in the mood for something light and fluffy. However, its lack of depth and repetitive slice-of-life elements prevent it from being truly memorable. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a quick and easy romance fix, but don't expect a groundbreaking or particularly engaging story.
